Dear DG Sisters!
I am excited to be your new Southeast Washington Alumnae Chapter President and would like to start off by introducing myself. I pledged Delta Gamma at Alpha Eta (Whitman College) before transferring to Beta Omega (WSU) for my sophomore year. I have been involved in an alumnae chapter everywhere I have lived, including the last 20+ years in the Tri-Cities. The day I joined Delta Gamma was a great one, and my relationship with DG has only gotten better with time. I am starting my 27th year in education and am a Special Education Transition Teacher in the Pasco School District. I look forward to getting to know you all over the next couple of years as we work together to grow our sisterhood.
As fall has arrived, and I have sent my own daughter back to college, I remember fondly the time spent with my Delta Gamma sisters. The start of a new school year is an exciting one, and I congratulate Alpha Eta (Whitman), Beta Omega (WSU), and Nu (Idaho) chapters on their successful recruitments and look forward to our chapter’s continued support of these amazing young women this year.
Delta Gamma’s Do Good Week has recently come to an end and I feel lucky to be a part of a fraternity of women whose motto is to Do Good. Philanthropy is a hallmark of the Greek system, and our Southeast Washington Alumnae Chapter is starting the year off strong. We have 52 Service for Sight hours already and we have only just begun! Any service our members do for our community is valued by Delta Gamma. Please send your service hours, whether they are for community service or Service for Sight, to our VP: Foundation, Dixie Stratford, by November 10th, to be included in our Fall Foundation Report (DDStratford@gmail.com). Our members Do Good daily and we should be celebrating them and all they do.
As you all have likely heard, our chapter has grown to include sisters from the Yakima and Walla Walla areas, and so our name was changed to Southeast Washington Alumnae Chapter to reflect our membership. In an effort to be more fiscally and environmentally responsible, we would like to begin sending our fall and spring newsletter via email starting in Spring 2024. To do this, we need your help to update our Chapter Directory as we are missing many emails. If you are currently receiving emails, there is no need to do anything. If you are not receiving emails from our chapter, please send your current contact information to Dixie Stratford (DDStratford@gmail.com) or myself (thepetersen4@gmail.com) so we can update our records.
I am beyond excited for the upcoming year as we have many amazing activities planned, including many opportunities to support our regional collegians. I hope to connect with each and every one of you at one of our events which can be found on our chapter’s Facebook page, Southeast Washington Delta Gamma Alumnae Chapter. Please check often as all the information can be found there. Hope you all have an opportunity to enjoy our wonderful early fall weather and I look forward to seeing you soon!
ITB,
Sara Sorensen Petersen
